Town marshal of Alma, Arkansas. Killed in the line of duty by Buck Barrow and W D Jones, members of Bonnie and Clyde gang
**CC NOTE: A monument dedicated by the Alma Police Department reads:
IN MEMORIUM ~ Marshall Henry D. Humphrey, born 3-16-1882, died 6-26-1933, from gunshot wounds inflicted by Buck Barrow, brother of Clyde Barrow. He was the eighth officer killed by the Barrow brothers, notorious bank robbers. His epitaph is an accurate description of his life: "His life an ideal, His memory an inspiration"
