The eight year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bates was seriously attacked by appendicitis one day last week and was rushed to the Hurley hospital in Bentonville where an operation was performed without avail. She died on Thursday and was buried in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery Friday. Maxine was a student in the third grade of the Bentonville schools. Her home was seven miles west of Bentonville.
