Tribute of Respect

Bro. R.L. Lackey was born in Baxter County, Arkansas August 30th, 1871, and departed this life July 1st, 1903--aged 31 years, 10 months and 1 day.
At the age of 7 he moved with his parents to Iuka, Izard County, Arkanasas where he remined until the death angel summoned him to come home, and receive his starry crown and live forever.
He professed faith in Christ while in youth and joined the M.E. Church, South, where he lived a devoted Christian.
He was married to Miss Nancy Hively September 11th, 1893. At the age of 23 he began the study and practice of medicine, which he followed with the greatest success until he was confined to his room.
Bro. Robert leaves a widow, four children, and aged father and mother, two brothers and five sisters, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn our loss. He bore his last sickness with much patience and murmured not. We would say to his companion, children, parents and relatives, weep not, for he is resting in the relms of the Great Beyond.
Bro. Lackey was made an Odd Fellow in 1895, in Iuka Lodge No. 78. He loved Odd-Fellowship and was true to his brothers and the principle, which helped make man social and humane.
Whereas, The Suprene Architect, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call from among us our beloved Brother, who has served us, as Secretary, so faithful and with such diligence and delight.
Resolved, That this Lodge has lost a worthy Bro., who has gone to help make up that enumerable host in the Grand Lodge Above.
Resolved, That the removal of such a life from our Lodge and home circle will leave a vacancy which can never be filled, while his infulence will live with us forever.
Resolved, That we wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days, and a copy of the Resolutions be spread on the Minutes, also a copy be furnished the family.
