March 17, 1880 - February 1, 1968
James Franklin Barkhimer, aged 87 of Rt. 3, Camden died early this morning in a local hospital. Mr. Barkhimer received burns on Wednesday morning when his home at Kent was destroyed by fire. The fire was discovered by an ambulance driver on an emergency call. He had lived in Ouachita County for the past sixty eight years, and was a Baptist. He is survived by two sons, James B. Barkhimer and B. F. Barkhimer both of Camden; one sister, Mrs. Ann West of Bauxite; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Proctor's Chapel with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Proctors is in charge of arrangements. (Camden News - February 1, 1968)
