James Virgil Atkins, 68, of Mt. View died Tuesday, Nov 13, 2001, near Mt. View.
Born Feb 19, 1933, at Clarksville, he was the son of Dallas Benjamin and Elva May Ritchie Atkins. He was a maintenance worker for Lucia Mar School System and served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He moved to Mt. View in February 1989, and owned Shady Grove RV Park until he sold it in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Atkins; a son, James H. Atkins of Mt. View; three daughters, Virginia Wright of Mt. View, June Smet and Ruth Anderson, both of Green Bay, Wisconsin; a brother, Monroe Atkins of Brookings, OR; two sisters, Lola Russell and Moselle Shannon, both of Templeton, CA; 10 grandchildren, William E. Anderson, Jr., Alisa Bashaw, Benjamin Federici, Krissy Rushly, Robert Anderson, Christopher Knight, Kenneth Knight, Jordan Atkins, Jennifer Wright and Jessica Wright; and six great granchildren, Savannah Anderson, Jacob Rushly, Thomas Rushly, Angelia Bashaw, Daniella Bashaw and Breanna Federici.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Goldie Foster.
The funeral was at 1PM today at First Assembly of God Church with Wayne Heide, Bill Jetton and Lee Balls officiating. Burial was in Galatia Cemetery in Galatia (sic) with arrangements by Roller Crouch Funeral Home of Mt. View.
Pallbearers were William E. Anderson, Sr., William E. Anderson, Jr., Joseph A. Wright, Bill Smet, John Rushley, Lane Bashaw, Benjamin Federici and Christopher Knight.
Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Knight and Jordan Atkins.
