LANDERS, John A. - Funeral services were held at Tuck's Chapel at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon for John Landers, 79 years old, widely known resident of the Pleasant Hill community who died in his sleep at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dora Baker, at Cassville, Mo. Monday night. Mr. Landers had been in ill health several months and his death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Landers went to Carthage, Mo. about two weeks ago for a visit with a daughter and later went to Cassville for a visit before returning home. He appeared to be feeling no worse when he retired Monday night. His death was not discovered until Tuesday morning. Mr. Landers is survived by three sons, Roland and James Landers, whose homes are in Oklahoma; Fred Landers, with whom he made his home in the Pleasant Hill community; and four daughters, Mrs. Ed Walker, Bentonville; Mrs. John Maxwell, Carthage; Mrs. Dora Baker, Cassville and Mrs. Will Dryden, Pleasant Hill.

(from Pleasant Hill) John A. Landers was born June 9, 1854 near Rogers, Ark. and departed this life Aug. 15, 1933 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Otis Baker at Cassville, Mo. He was married to Miss Mary Jane Threet Feb. 4, 1875 and to this union was born 3 sons and 5 daughters, a daughter dying in infancy - Mrs. J.S. Maxwell of Carthage, Mo.; Mrs. E.D. Walker of Bentonville, Ark.; Mrs. Otis Baker of Cassville, Mo.; Mrs. W.H. Dryden of Rogers; J.F. and R.H. Landers of Hinton, Okla. and Fred Landers of Rogers. "Uncle John," as he was known, grew to manhood and spent his entire life within a few miles of his birthplace. He was loved by all who knew him and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his children and grandchildren, one brother, Jim Landers of Rogers and one sister, Mrs. Cinda Ford of Carthage, Mo. and a host of other relatives and friends. His wife preceded him in death some 15 years ago. He was married to Miss Eliza Vansandt Jan. 22, 1918 at Pea Ridge. She departed this life Jan. 17, 1929. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Stevens after which the body was laid to rest in the Tucks Chapel cemetery.

LANDERS, Jane THREET - (from Tuck's Chapel} Mrs. Jane Landers, wife of John Landers, died at her home Saturday morning of kidney trouble. She was sick only a few days and her death came as a great shock to her neighbors and friends for only a few knew she was sick. She was laid to rest at this place Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Seamster of Avoca conducting the services. She leaves a husband, three sons and four daughters, a number of grandchildren and two brothers, Wm. and Ben Threet. All were present at the funeral but one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Walker of Salem, Oregon.
