FATAL SHOOTING IN ROGERS

Claude Means, age 45 years, living in the White river country, was shot and killed on the streets of Rogers last Saturday.

Calvin Townsend, also living east of Rogers, is out on a $1500 bond on a charge of voluntary manslaughter.

MEANS, Katie THOMPSON - Entered into rest Tuesday morning, May 19th, Katie Means, wife of Claude Means, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Thompson. Born November 28, 1899 in Merles county, Mo., she came to Arkansas with her parents and resided near Monte Ne. At the age of fifteen she was united in marriage to Claude Means. To this union was born three children, one of whom died in infancy. Besides the two children and her husband to mourn her loss are her aged parents, three brothers and three sisters. Burial was in the cemetery at War Eagle beside that of her little one.

(from Monte) Our community was very much shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. Claude Means on the 19th of May. She died very suddenly of heart failure. She was 26 years old and leaves two small children. She was buried at War Eagle. We all sympathize with the bereaved family.
