Cephas David Woods, son of John R. and Margarett A. Woods of precious memory, was born at the family residence four miles east of Bentonville, January 25, 1864. His whole life was quietly but honorable spent in this community. December 25, 1897 he was united in the sacred bonds of matrimony with Elizabeth E. Deason and to this happy union were born four children, a son and three daughters. He was not a member of any church but evidently, for many years, had lived an humble and upright life. A few days before his death he told the undersigned that he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour and had submitted all into his hands. At 4 o'clock a.m. on the 19th he peacefully departed this life. He is survived by his beloved companion, a devoted son, William Glen, and three amiable daughters, Gladys Irene, Jennie Grace and Annie, five brothers, Jno. R. of Burley, Idaho; Dewitt C. of New Mexico; Finis Holmes of Enterprise, Ore.; Chas. Richard of Rogers; Clyde of Miami, Okla., a beloved stepmother, Mrs. Jennie Woods, and scores of other relatives and friends as numerous as his acquaintances. The funeral service was held at Oakley chapel by the writer, assisted by Dr. H.W. Steen and Rev. A.J. Deason and was attended by several hundred people. The remains were laid to rest in the Oakley Chapel cemetery. P. Carnahan.
