SIMPSON, Joshua - Joshua Simpson, who lived near the Morning Star School, passed away last Thursday night at 11 p.m. after a short illness of only five days. He was born in Davis county, Missouri September 19, 1844 and passed away on Nov. 17, 1921 at the age of 77 years. When 18 years of age he enlisted in the Union army and served his country faithfully until his discharge in April 1865. He was married to Miss Mary Espy of Princeton, Mo. Dec. 25, 1865 and to them were born five children, all of whom are living with the exception of one who died in infancy. He leaves a wife, Mrs. Mary Simpson, a daughter, Mrs. Addie Stewart of Ridgeway, Mo., a son, Will Simpson of Custer City, Okla. and two sons, Ira and Leonard Simpson, who lived in this county. He gave his life to the work of the Master 35 or 40 years ago, living these years to bless his fellow men and to glorify God. Funeral services were held at the home last Sunday at ten o'clock by Evangelist Homer Coberly of Cave Springs, Ark. and a great number of friends and relatives attended the services. The remains were laid to rest in the Oakley Chapel cemetery.

SIMPSON, Mary - Mrs. Joshua Simpson, who has been ill for some time, died at her home southwest of Bentonville last Thursday. Her husband preceded her less than a week ago. Mrs. Simpson was a well known resident of the Morning Star neighborhood and was loved by all who knew her. She passed the allotted span of three score years and ten by five years. Mary Simpson was born in Tennessee in Sept. 1846 and in 1865 she was married to Joshua Simpson. She is survived by two sons, Leonard and Ira, who live near her, and William of Custer City, Okla. and a daughter, Mrs. Addie Steward of Ridgeway, Missouri. Rev. Homer Coberly conducted the funeral services and the remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the Oakley Chapel cemetery.
