Mr. Dillard was born in Mineral Springs, Arkansas. He opened his first store in Nashville, Arkansas; opened another in Texarkana, Arkansas, sold the original in Nashville and opened two other stores. These was the beginning of Dillards, Inc. He died in Little Rock, Arkansas.
