GOULD, Jane M. RITCHEY - Jane M. Gould was born in Blount county, East Tennessee, November 10th, 1809 and died Dec. 27th, 1895 at her son, W.E. Gould's residence, one and one-half miles south of Rogers. She was 86 years, one month and seventeen days old at her death. While she was quite young she joined the Presbyterian church but several years afterwards she attached herself to the Cumberland Presbyterian church and remained a strict member of that denomination until her death. She was married to John Gould November 13th, 1827 in East Tennessee. Shortly afterwards she, with her family moved to Henry county, West Tennessee where she lived until 1859 when she moved to this county with her husband and children. She was the mother of ten children, seven boys and three girls, six of which, three girls and three boys, survive her. All were present at her death but one. She was mild and smooth tempered. She seldom gave any expression of irritated or angry feelings. She seldom said a hard word about any one. She was without doubt a model companion and a kind mother. All her children have been members of the church for many years, which undoubtedly gave her hope that bye and bye she would meet them all in a better world. W.E. Gould.
