BASSETT, Nellie - Miss Nellie Bassett, aged 70, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Julia E. Nye, in East Bentonville Saturday, Jan. 30, 1930 at 8 p.m. Death was due to hardening of the arteries and the result of two strokes of paralysis. Since that time she had made her home with her sister who with friends have cared for her. She had been practically helpless since her last stroke but stood her suffering with true Christian fortitude. She was cheerful until the end. Miss Bassett was born in Randolph, N.Y. in 1859 and came to Bentonville about 10 years ago. She had traveled a great deal and was fond of reading and kept up on the news events of the world. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A.W. Henderson, were held at the Nye home Saturday forenoon. Burial was made in the cemetery at Oakley Chapel. She is survived by her sister and distant relatives.
