RAKES, Geo. W. - {from Pleasant Site} G.W. Rakes of Sugar Creek died last Saturday morning at the home of his brother, David Rakes, of this place. Mr. Rakes had been in very poor health all winter and on visiting his brother on last Sunday night was suddenly taken ill with pneumonia and struggled with life until 4 o'clock Saturday morning when God called him from this world to live with Him and His angels. The body was laid to rest in the Hart cemetery Sunday at 11 o'clock a.m.

RAKES, Ella E. RATLIFF - Mrs. Ella E. Rakes, widow of Geo. Rakes, early settlers in the Bentonville community, died at her home four miles north of Bentonville on No. 100 highway Monday morning. She was 77 years of age and had been ill for some time. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Oliver Koons of the Little Flock Baptist Church conducting the services. Burial was made in the Hart cemetery south of Bentonville. Mrs. Rakes was born in Virginia in 1857 and came here with her husband over 50 years ago. She is survived by four sons, George, David, James and Edgar Rakes of this community and by four daughters, Mrs. Lee McNeil and Mrs. Ben Lawson of Bentonville, Mrs. May Harrington, living in Texas and Mrs. Maude Morgan of Monett.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Rakes, aged 75 years, 10 months and 26 days, widow of the late George W. Rakes, who died at her home three miles north of Bentonville on Highway No. 100, Monday morning, February 13th, 1933 following an illness of two weeks, were held Tuesday afternoon at the family home, conducted by the Rev. Oliver Koons, Primitive Baptist minister of the Little Flock church east of Bentonville. Interment was beside her husband in the Hart cemetery south of Bentonville. Mrs. Rakes was a native of Virginia and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Ratliff. She was born on March 17th, 1857. She had spent the greater part of her life here in Arkansas and had lived at the home where she died for many years, she and her husband rearing their family there. He died a number of years ago. She is survived by four sons, all widely known and highly esteemed throughout this section. They are James Rakes of Bentonville and David, George and Edgar Rakes of near Bentonville. She also is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ben Lawson and Mrs. Lee McNeil of Bentonville, Mrs. Maude Morgan of Monett, Mo. and Mrs. May Harrington of Sherman, Texas; and by a number of grandchildren and many other relatives.
