Thaddeus Vance was a son of James and Lucy Benham Vance (buried in Perryville Cemetery, Perry County, Arkansas). In 1914 he was elected alderman of the town of Bigelow, Perry County, Arkansas. In 1919 he was elected alderman of Ward Four, Texarkana, Arkansas. He served as City Attorney of Texarkana for two terms, extending from 1915 to 1919. Mr. Vance was for four years also Judge of the Municipal Court of Texarkana and Miller County, Arkansas. He was married to Clair Blair Vance.
