Leslie Allen Wood, Sr., 57, of Ridgedale, MO, a welder and a native of Baxter County, was fatally injured in a highway incident on Highway 14 north of Yellville on Wednesday of last week. He was a lifetime resident of this county and of Taney County, MO and a veteran of WWII.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 10:30AM at the Galatia Methodist Chruch, east of Norfork, with Rev. Donald Moore, minister of the Mt. Home Methodist Parish, officiating. Interment was in the Galatia Cemetery, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Ed Skidmore, Zion Small, Ralph Parnell, George Clark, Gene Adams and Gene Alexander.
Mr. Wood was born in this county on Jan 21, 1910, the son of the late Henry Giddeon Wood and Oilie Josephine Davenport Wood. He was married to Eunice Griffin on Jan 5, 1935, and they were the parents of eight children. He served in the Army during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eunice Wood of Ridgedale; five sons, Henry Lee Wood of Wichita, KS, Howard Wood with the US Navy in CA; and Allen, Billy, and Chester Wood all of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Anna Bell Rowell and Miss Janie Wood of the home and Mrs. Frances Keeler of Memphis, TN; three brothers, Frank Parnell of Kansas City, MO, Howard Wood of Norfork and Noah Wood of Cummings, GA; five sisters, Mrs. Nita Hause and Mrs. Nettie Taylor, both of Albuquerque, NM, Mrs. Fannie Mathis of Humanville, MO and Mrs. Roth Bowers and Mrs. Joyce Bedington, both of Yakima, WA; and three grandchildren.
