STONE, Taylor - Funeral services for Taylor Stone, aged 84, one of the county's most widely known farmers who died at his home at Cave Springs Wednesday night, November 23rd, 1932, were held at Cave Springs Friday afternoon with interment in the Hart cemetery southeast of Bentonville. A native of Illinois Mr. Stone came from that state to Benton County, Arkansas when a young man, settling near Cave Springs, a few miles south of Bentonville, and made that section his home the remainder of his life. Widely known for his energy and vitality that so long resisted the approach of old age, his end followed by only a few hours an apoplectic stroke which he suffered late Wednesday. He was one of the founders and charter members of the Benton County Fox Hunters'Association and in the close to 40 years of that organization's existence had never missed one of its annual hunts. Several members of the association had special places at his funeral. Although he had always enjoyed excellent health otherwise, Mr. Stone had for nearly 40 years suffered from a bullet wound in his hip which he received when he and other local citizens battled here at Bentonville with the notorious Henry Starr and other bandits who robbed the Bentonville Peoples Bank on June 5th, 1893. Mr. Stone is survived by the wife of his second marriage and a few other relatives including a nephew, E.C. Stone, of Springfield, Mo. and a cousin, Mrs. J. Weathers, of Rogers, Ark. Bentonville had always been "his town" and until the increasing ailments of added years prevented, Mr. Stone was a familiar figure on the Bentonville streets. Hardly was there a week but he was here several times and never missed the sessions of the circuit court. In the passing on of Taylor Stone this section loses one of its most unique characters and one who will be missed by many Bentonville friends.
