SPOTTS, Daniel - {from Bethlehem} Roy Davis received word Sunday evening that his father-in-law, Mr. Spotts, died Sunday evening at the home of his son at Blue Jacket, Okla.

Daniel Spotts, a former resident of the Morning Star neighborhood, died last week in Blue Jacket, Okla. where he has made his home for the past two years. He also lived some time on the White river northeast of Rogers. He was about 83 years of age. The body was brought back by hearse and was interred in the Hart cemetery south of Bentonville. Mr. Spotts, who made his home with his son, Roy, died of cancer. Daniel Spotts was born near Marshall, Ill. Oct. 1, 1847 and lived there until about 1860 when he went to Canada. In Feb. 1865 he married Miss Harriet Combs at Yamic Center, Canada. To this union were born six children: Mrs. Ella McKee, Coffeyville, Kans.; Mrs. Ida M. Rose, Fort Smith; Mrs. Nema James, Seneca, Mo.; Sam Spotts, Blue Jacket, Okla.; Mollie and Willie, who passed away in 1880. Mrs. Spotts also passed away early. Mr. Spotts was later married to Miss Platta Griffen and to them were born two children. The wife and baby died but the other grew to womanhood and married L.R. Gash. She died May 8, 1918. On Dec. 15, 1892 Mr. Spotts married a third time - and his bride was Miss Emma Susan Franklin of Independence, Kans. To this union eight children were born: J.D. Spotts of Simond, Okla.; Roy L. Spotts of Blue Jacket, Okla,; Chas. Spotts of Blue Jacket, Okla.; J.W. Spotts of Chicago; Mrs. J.S. Guthrie of Springdale; Miss Julia Spotts, Springdale and Mrs. Pearl Davis, Centerton; and little Robert Bennie who passed away Dec. 20, 1917. Mr. Spotts moved from Illinois to Oklahoma. On Dec. 7, 1899 he moved to Canada then to Kansas and later to Arkansas. Mrs. Emma Franklin Spotts passed away on Sunday, Sept. 26, 1926 at two p.m. Mr. Spotts died Jan. 30, 1927 at 3:10 Sunday morning. He leaves to mourn his departure two brothers, Ben Spotts, Tacoma, Wash.; Jake Spotts of Indianapolis, Ind.; also two sisters, Fannie Neal of Terre Haute, Ind. and Anna Kintz, Hollywood, Calif. Also eleven children and 15 grandchildren. Son, mother and father are all laid side by side in the Hart cemetery. All but two of the children attended the funeral and most of the grandchildren.
