Funeral services for John Daniel (Dan) King, Sr., 79, of Norfork, well known farmer and merchant in that locality for 48 years, who died January 11, at the home of his son Reuben, in Fresno, CA, were held at Galatia Methodist Chruch Monday at 2PM.
Officiating at the services were the Rev. Ben C. Few and Rev. Harvey Hazelwood. Military rites were held at the graveside by members of Willam R. Kendrick Camp, Spanish-American War veterans.
King ws born in Lexington, KY on May, 22 1876. In 1907 he came to Baxter Co., where he lived until several months ago. During the Spanish-American War he served four years in the army including service in the Cuban Campaign. He was a member of the Norfork Methodist Church.
Services were also held in Fresno before the body was returned here for burial. Rev. Ord Rouse, a native of Norfok area who now lives in CA officiated at the rites there.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. May Arnold King, of the home; Three sons, Sheriff J.D. King, Jr., of Mt. Home, Reuben A. King of Fresno and Louis G. King of Walnut Creek, CA; a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Hunt of Fresno; and s sister, Mrs. Charles Long of Detroit, MI.
Interment was in Galatia Cemetery, under direction of the Roller Funeral Home.
