James Dale LINN

Layton Cemetery
Marion County,
Arkansas

b. 16 Nov 1940 in Yellville, Marion, Arkansas, USA
d. 3 May 1956 in Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan

James Dale Linn was the only son of James "Jack" Ray Linn and his wife, Ethel L. Turner.

On the one time he was allowed to attend a school function without his parents taking him, James was tragically killed. James and his date took a bus to a school dance or prom and after exiting the bus, started across the street. As they were walking across, they were hit by a drunk driver; both James and his date were killed on impact.

I believe James went through the windshield of the car and the girl was thrown over 150'. Years later the driver who hit and killed this young couple was interviewed by the Flint Journal in Flint, Michigan. He talked about this devastating accident and how he ended up in jail for killing these two young people. Irony and sad was that these two were killed across from Gracelawn Cemetery in Flint (according to my mom) - my dad is James Ray's brother.

The death of James was something that his parents never recovered from. James was a tall, slim, good looking young man who never got the opportunity to live and experience life.
