EGYPT -- Lola Statler, 91, of Egypt died Sunday, April 16, 2006, in St. Bernard's Medical Center at Jonesboro.

Born in 1915 in the Egypt community, she was the daughter of Wess and Elizabeth Jones. She was affectionately known by her Egypt friends and customers as "Miss Lola" of the Red and White Store in Egypt, which she and her husband, C.A. Statler, owned and operated for over 43 years. She was an active member of the Egypt Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Jim Statler of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Sandra Hunt of Nashville, Tenn., and Randy Statler of Jonesboro; and five great grandchildren, Sheena Statler, Devyn Statler, Lauren Hunt, Ashton Hunt and Weston Statler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. Statler; her parents, Wess and Elizabeth Caraway Jones; and three brothers, Nick Jones, Ralph Jones and Vaughn Jones.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today in the Egypt Church of Christ at Egypt with G.W. Allison officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge.

Active pallbearers will be Jerry Jones, Jimmy Jones, Bill Jones, Duane Downs, Bill Keith and Todd Statler.

Visitation was held Tuesday at the Langford-Bookout Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington in Jonesboro.

Memorials may be made to the Markum Cemetery Fund in Egypt.
