William David McLain November 21, 1857 - October 13, 1921

Born in Lawrence County, Arkansas
Son of John Henry McLAIN b abt 1835-37 Weakley County Tennessee and Sarah Catherine Agee b 1842 East Tennessee.
His first wife Cordelia E Mosier died 1897
And is buried near him. David and Cordelia Mosier McLain had several children, some who died young, and those that survived were Elizabeth “Lettie” HOLDEN, and Elva BROWN.
David remarried 1898 Clara D Cooper. She was born in in Brinkley, Monroe County Arkasnas to Dillard L Cooper (b 1838 in Spartanburg, SC) and Parthernia Andrews (Anders) House (b 1835 in Wilkes, Georga)
W.D. McLAIN had several children by Cordelia and a large family with Clara. He owned & operated a sawmill for years, and was a business partner with his daughter Elizabeth’s husband, Robert HOLDEN, operating the McLAIN-HOLDEN Land and Lumber Company. W.D. McLAIN was active in Newport politics and affairs, and served 1914-1919 as Jackson County Judge. In Newport’s old First Christian Church, W.D. McLain contributed a pair of stained glass windows sometime after 1914 when the church was rebuilt of brick after a fire. The pair of windows are in memory of his mother Sarah Catherine McLain (nee Agee), and a single window is in memory of his and Cordelia’s son Henry Elbert McLAIN that died as a young boy.

Clara is my great grandmother & their daughter Audrey McLain b Jan 1 1900 Newport, Jackson Co AR is my maternal grandmother> She married 1919 Newport, Jackson County, Arkansas to Robert E L WASHBURN b 1897 St Louis MO. Their only child Frances Clotine WASHBURN b April 17, 1920 in Newport, Jackson County, Arkansas is my mother who married Arthur Joseph Williams, my father. They are deceased.
