GREERS FERRY — Thomas S. Buercklin, 77, of Greers Ferry, formerly of Portia, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 28, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 31, 1931, at Portia, the son of Fred and Vada Lane Buercklin. His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Buercklin was a real estate agent for area Realtors in Greers Ferry for more than 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Sertoma Club and First United Methodist Church of Portia, before moving to Greers Ferry.

He married Mary Austin on April 19, 1953, at Hoxie.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Buercklin of Greers Ferry; one son, William Buercklin of Fayetteville; two grandsons, Shaun and Thomas Buercklin; and one great-grandson, Cody Buercklin.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday graveside in Lawrence Memorial Park with the Rev. Michael Winberry officiating.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at Higginbotham Funeral Service in Walnut Ridge.
