Jerry Wayne Baker, 55, of Williford died at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. Born in Lepanto, he was the son of Robert H. Baker and Lillie Verble Lorance Baker. He married Glenda Jean Price Dec. 18, 1965, in Lepanto. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for HR Quadri in Van Buren, Mo. He was a member of Ash Flat Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law -- David and Michelle Baker of Bryant; two grandchildren -- Dakota Wayne Baker and Morgan Leigh Baker, both of Bryant; and four sisters -- Louise Victory, Bernice Blann and Shirley Brownlee, all of Memphis, and Lillie May Piercy of Monette. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, -- W.C. Baker and James Baker; and two sisters -- Fay Baker and Edna Sue Davis. The funeral was Dec. 21 at Ash Flat Church of Christ with Keith Gregson officiating. Burial followed in Spots Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Haskins, Dave Pier, Danny Haney, Bryan Swymn, Dennis Seiwert and Martin Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers were Travis Price, Teddy Price, Stanley Price, Larry Zeigler, Tommy Norris, Truman Sisney and all of Mr. Baker's nephews. Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland.
