Obituary
Alvin H. Hicks of Lone Rock died Tuesday (Jan 20) at Calico Rock Medical Center. He was 74.
Services will be held at 2PM today at Lone Rock Church of Christ with Brother Frank Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Burnt Schoolhouse Cemetery with Garland Woods, Claude Beavers, Carlisle Beavers, Kenneth Beavers, Clifford Strubar and Bill Schelor serving as pallbearers. The North Central Arkansas Veterans Council will conduct military graveside honors.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Harvey Hicks of Corpus Christi, Texas and James Hicks of Ft. Jones, Texas; one daugher, Dovie Kamrar of Citrus Heights, CA; two brothers, Virgil Hicks of Roseville, CA and J.C. Hicks of Alton, OK; three sisters, Ruby Spencer of Loomis, CA, Ophelia Garrison of Montana, and Alice Hicks of Roseville, CA; his mother, Maggie Hicks of Roseville, CA; step son Kenneth Beavers of Holden, MO; two step daughters, Jesse Wood and Marcia Shelor both of Indianapolis, IN; 20 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his fater and two borthers.
A retired civil servant, Mr. Hicks also served in the US Navy during World War II. He was born May 17, 1917, at Henderson to Maggie Talburt Hicks and the late Crawford Hicks. He and the former Beulah Dows were married May 1971, at Mt. Home. He was a member of the Lone Rock Chruch of Christ and DAV Chapter 30.
