Thelma Arlene Garrison went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 3rd 2011. She was born in Denver Colorado, on Jan 18th, 1916 to the late David Boyd Harrison and Annie Hudspeth Harrison.
Mrs. Garrison was preceded in death by her late husband Dr. Cecil Garrison with whom she was married to for 59 years, her two sisters, Mrs. Virgie White and Mrs. Retha Comer and one brother Basil Harrison.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice Terrell, son in law Charles Terrell, of Port Arthur TX., and son Gerald Garrison of Baton Rouge, LA and one grandson Chris Garrison also of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her brother Raysel Harrison.
Mrs. Garrison was retired from teaching school for over 34 years in Conway. She was also a Hostess at the athletic dorm at University of Central Arkansas. She had a bachelors and a Masters Degree in Education from UCA.
For over 60 years she has been a member of Conway’s First Baptist Church and served in many capacities. She was also a volunteer at Conway Memorial Hospital where she received countless awards for service.
During World War II she held a civil service position and was stationed at Montgomery army air base, Blytheville army air base, and Cochran Field in Macon Georgia.
Visitation will be at Conway’s First Baptist Church Tuesday June 7th 2011 at 1:00 PM and the Funeral will follow at 2:00.
A very special “Thanks” to her angels on Earth who helped take care of her in her last days. Tawanda McClelland and her hospice nurse Nettie.
