From the LONE ROCK Community Column in the April 23, 1943, Issue of The Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, Arkansas:
Private John Chapman who has for several months been stationed at Camp Campbell, Ky., was called to Batesville to be with his wife and new baby which only lived a few hours. The body of the baby was taken to Lone Rock by the father and buried Saturday evening in the Burnt School House cemetery. Private Chapman then returned to Batesville to be with his wife until she will be able to return home which will be the last of the present week. This was their first child.
