Graveside services for Garland L. Wood of Gassville will be at 2PM Friday at Brunt School House Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Nozar officiating. Mr. Wood died Monday (Sep 28, 1998) at Gassville Nursing Center. He was 77.
Mr. Wood was born March 22, 1921, at Burden, KS, a son of L.Z. and Lois King Wood. He married the former Virginia Patterson Feb 12, 1939, at Culp. He worked as a farmer and was also a river guide on the White River and worked as a truck driver for the county. He served in the US Army durning World War II.
He is survived by one son, Charles G. Wood of Conway; two daughers, Sandra S. McPeak of Wickett, TX, and Nedra Arsenault of Ontario, Canada; one sister, Fern Edgin of Mt. Home; three grandchildren, Derrick Gray of Fort Rilery, KS, Chirstopher Randolph of Wickett, TX and LaNae Houchins of Midland, TX; two great grandchildren, Jordan and Morgan Gray of Fort Riley, KS; a great aunt, Nellie Casteel Perry of Mt. Home and three nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother.
Visitation will be from 9AM to 9PM today at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8PM. Honorary pallbearers are Howard Casteel, Derrick Gray, Christopher Randolph, Morrell Woods, Bill Hinds, Ted Arsenault and Boyce Henderson.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
