Mrs. Christine Garner, 77, of Portland died Sunday, October 10, 1999, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Garner was a native of Greenwood, MS, a resident of Portland since 1948, a homemaker; and a member of the Portland United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, L.C. and Naomi Lucus Overby. She is survived by her husband, C.B. Garner of Portland; two daughters, Patsy Selby of Montrose and Jerri Naff of Pueblo, CO; a brother, Pat Barmore of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Judy Denton of Lakeland, FL, and Ida Ray Buller of Oak Grove, LA; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 12, at Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg. Grave-side services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, in the Portland Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Meyers officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Selby, Bruce Smith, Mark Singleton, Todd Naff, Benton and Joel Newcome, Bob Kirkland and Cliff Sadler. Memorials may be made to the Portland United Methodist Church, 303 N. Main, Portland, AR, or to the Portland Cemetery Association, c/o Gus Pugh & Sons, Portland, AR 71663.
