The inscription on this marker reads "Charles C. May, Born July 24, 1872, Departed Nov. 26, 1909"
This is from May Chapel Cemetery located east of Levesque off Hwy 64. These graves are on the property of the St. Francis Levee District, about 4 or 5 miles down the levee road to Hwy 306. According to Leslie Utley's father, the cemetery had about 50 grave markers during the 1940's and 1950's. The stones were destroyed to make way for farming operations. All that remains is one upright marker, engraved on both sides, and sunken graves containing an additional 3 or 4 markers.
