Rev. Homer R. Burns, 79, of Seligman, Mo. died Sunday at Rogers Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 7, 1889 in Kingdom Springs and lived in the Seligman area most of his life. He was an ordained minister in the Assembly of God Church for 52 years and pastored in Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma, retiring last spring.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Burns of the home; four sons, Henry Burns of Washburn and Mickey Burns, Rev. Bob Burns and H.E. Burns, all of Seligman; four daughters, Lillian Cargile of Seligman, Evelyn Sullivan of North Little Rock, Mrs. Mayo Rose of Eureka Springs and Rachel Ash of Gateway; a brother, C.J. Burns of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Verla Newberry of El Dorado, Kan.; 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. today at the Southwest High School Gymnasium in Washburn with Rev. Bob Whilhite and Rev. Hugh Still officiating. Burial was in the Roller Cemetery at Gateway under the direction of Williamson Chapel of Cassville.
