Mrs Ford Passes Away at Oxford After Brief Illness
Mrs Zela Ford aged 40 wife of W. M. Ford prominent business man and farmer of Oxford died at her home at that place Thursday morning at about eleven o'clock. Her illness was of only a few days duration and though the seriousness of her condition was realized from the start every possible effect was made to prolong her life and affect a recovery.
Funeral services are to be held (Friday) afternoon at Spring Creek Church, funeral services to be conducted by Rev D. R. Robertson of Mt. Olive, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of this place, burial to take place in Spring Creek Cemetery.
Besides her husband and an infant daughter of a few days of age, deceased is survived by her daughter Miss Lela Bell; father and mother, Mr and Mrs S. C. Matthews of Calico Rock; two sisters, Misses Ruth and Fern Matthews of Calico Rock; three brothers, Seth Matthews of Cotter, Dr. A. D. Matthews of Calico Rock, and Cadmus Matthews of Bristow, Okla.
The news of the death of this good woman came as a shock to everyone as she was highly esteemed and beloved as her kindly nature endeared her to numerous friends and associates during her several years residence here, as it did during her residence at Oxford. The deepest sympathy of all goes out to the family in these dark hours of bereavement.

Funeral Held Friday
The funeral of Mrs Zela Ford wife of W. M. Ford of Oxford whose death occurred April 26 was held at Spring Creek Church Friday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by Rev D. R. Robertson, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church here., who paid a beautiful tribute to the life and character of this good woman, whose unexpected passing away was the source of countless expressions of sorrow and sympathy. A large congregation of friends attended the services at the church, as well as at the graveside in Spring Creek Cemetery, where interment took place.
Mrs Ford was 40 years of age, being the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs S. C. Matthews of this place. She was born in Baxter County where she resided with her parents at the old family home place. About twenty years ago she was married to Andrew Bell, whose death occurred only a few years afterwards. To this union was born two children, a daughter, who survives, and a son deceased. After a few years residence in Kansas she returned here, where she resided until her marriage about two years ago to Mr W. M. Ford of Oxford, residing there until death.
Deceased was a devout Christian being a member of the M. E. Church, South. She won the love and respect of every one for those noble traits of womanhood that firmly entrenched her in the highest estimation of those who were privileged to know her and enjoy her association. As a mother, wife, neighbor and friend, she was all these words imply. Besides her husband and parents, deceased is survived by an infant daughter, another daughter, Miss Lela Bell; two sisters, Misses Ruth and Fern Matthews and three brothers, Seth Matthews of Cotter, Dr. A. D. Matthews of Calico Rock and O. C. Matthews of Bristow, Okla.
