LINER, Beulah SLINKARD - (from Walnut Hill) Our community was terribly shocked early Monday morning when the news went out over the phone that Mrs. Charlie Liner had passed away. They had made their home in Great Bend, Kan. the past year but owing to Mrs. Liner's health arrived at Garfield Saturday and visited with her sister, Mrs. Geo. Mills. Her condition was not realized by her immediate family and they were intending to come out to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Slinkard, on Monday after a days rest, but God saw fit to call her home early Monday morning. Mrs. Beulah Liner {nee Slinkard} was born near Walnut Hill June 23, 1903; was married to Charles 0. Liner Sept. 17, 1919. After visiting with relatives about two weeks they moved to South Texas but her health caused them to return to Kansas. In the course of six months or so they lived and loved the west until about the last of April when Miss Nellie, a sister of Mrs. Liner, was called. Finding her in very poor health, April 16th, she was taken to a hospital and an operation performed. In 20 days she was able to be removed home, when before long it was learned she had a leakage in the heart that caused untold suffering and we are told by those who were near that she was always the patient, loving, jolly Beulah that had always made her so many friends. She was the twelfth child in a family of fifteen, two dying in infancy. She is survived by her husband, father, mother, five brothers - Messrs. Alfred Slinkard, who not knowing of her coming had left Saturday for Kansas harvest fields; Curtis, Lee and Jimmy Slinkard being present, but Earnest Slinkard, who lived in Great Bend, did not accompany them here. She leaves seven sisters of whom Mesdames Paul Crabb, Geo. Mills, Virgil Edens and Misses Nellie and Vena Slinkard were present. Mrs. John Cox of Mounds, Okla. and Mrs. Arthur Clines of Watts, Okla. were absent. Miss Nellie was so faithful thru all the trials of her sister that we take this means to show the appreciation of her many friends and relatives. Owing to the rain many were disappointed but a crowded house and a casket covered with many lovely flowers showed that Beulah was a much beloved girl in our midst. Had she lived till Thursday she would have been 18 years old. Rev. Marion Seamster of Avoca conducted the funeral service. Afterward she was laid to rest in the cemetery where her childhood school days has called her oft before and where her feet in many a happy game of play had crossed her last resting place. A host of friends join the young husband and the family in this sadness.
