Ben F. Fortner, age 88 of Sparkman, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Larkin Wright near Arkadelphia Wednesday night. Mr. Fortner was a sawmill worker until he retired a number of years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Everett Fortner; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Cobb of Camden, and Mrs. Audie Tilley of Sparkman; 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Sparkman Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Doyle Lumpkin and Rev. Buddy Coleman. Burial will be in Sparkman cemetery by Proctor Funeral Home. The body was taken to the home of Mrs. Audie Tilley at Sparkman Thursday afternoon to remain until service time. Casket bearers are: Mike Kauble, C. B. Wright, Ross E. Wright, Howard Nalls, Johnny Howard, and Loyal Bell. (Camden News - December 8, 1960)
