He died April 26, 1927,
at Arkana, Baxter County, Arkansas. He was the husband of Della Fugate Jones.
William "Willie" Jones was one of three men that drowned in the White River at Old Rothville near Arkana. The three men were trying to sting a cable for a ferry boat when the boat they were using was pulled under the swift water.
His body was recovered three days later on a drift on an island two miles
below Norfork.
