Robert Wesley (Bob) Barnes, 78, 2027 W. Sixth St., Fayetteville, died Sept. 24 at Washington Regional Medical Center. Born July 18, 1897, in Fayetteville, he was the son of George Wesley and Bernice Denwiddie Barnes, a member of Unity Baptist Church, Farmington, and was a pioneer in the distribution of LP gas in Northwest Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertha Hanna Barnes of the home; two sons, Maurice Barnes, Berryville, and Howard Barnes, Fayetteville; two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Lierly, Little Rock, and Mrs. Juanita Steele, Springdale; two brothers, Bill Barnes, Fayetteville, and L.C. Barnes, Gainsville, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Watson, Wichita, Kan.; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Nelson Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Steve Wood and the Rev. E.A. Guinn officiating. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery under the direction of Nelson.
