The death angel visited our community February 13, and claimed one of our oldest and most substantial citizens, Bro. David Davis. Bro. Davis was born in Tennessee February 18, 1852. He came to this country at the age of 18 years. Soon after comeing to this country he was united in marriage to a Miss Martha Mann. To this union were given nine children, 4 sons and five daughers, seven of whom, together with Mrs. Davis have preceded him to the great beyond. Two daughters, Mrs. Sally Rasor and Mrs. Mary Carrier, together with 16 grandchildren survive him. Interment was made in the Burnt School House Cemetery on the afternoon of the 14th inst. Funeral services were conducted by his friend C.P. Tilley. With the passing of Bro. Davis the family has lost a devoted father and the community a reliable citizen and a Christian gentleman. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their great loss.
A writing will appear for Bro. Davis later.
