John Joseph Dougherty was born 25 Dec 1843, Plattsburgh, Clinton Co. NY; died 30 July 1926, Ozark Co. MO; married Louisa Jane Fields, daughter of Abraham Fields & Mary "Polly" Noble on 21 June 1874, Spring Creek, Phelps Co. MO. She died of cancer, Springfield, Greene Co. MO, 25 Apr 1906, and is buried in an unmarked grave at Bellview Cemetery, north of Springfield, Greene Co. MO. John served as a Private Co A. 6 Reg. NY Inf. Enlisted June 1861 and discharged 25 June 1863. Living at Udall, Ozark Co. MO with disability from left foot split with an axe, according to the 1890 Veterans' Schedule, Bayou, Ozark Co. MO. They were the parents of 9 children.
After Louisa's death, he married Mrs. Cordelia Kerdo or Herd?( hard to read), Oct 1910, Ozark Co. MO. at the home of his son, Robert Henry Dougherty.
