Lester the son of Walter Otis Clayton and Jennie P (Riggs) Clayton. Bernice the daughter of Sidney Eathon "Bud" Allen and Hattie Mae (Huskey) Stone Allen.


Bernice Clayton (October 30, 1920 - February 6, 2010)

Bernice Clayton, of Strawberry died Saturday February 6, 2010 at Harris Hospital in Newport, she was 89 years old. Mrs. Clayton was born October 30, 1920 to the late S.E. and Hattie Husky Allen. She married the late Lester Clayton on August 6, 1942 in Hoxie, they were married for 44 years until his death in 1986. Mrs. Clayton was a member of the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband she is proceeded in death by four sisters; Zelpha Smith, Verble Presley, Mary Gardner, and Edna Taylor. Three brothers; C.W. Stone, Bruce Allen, and Bovay Allen.

She is survived two sons and daughters-in-law: Denny & Dorothy Clayton and Roger & Janice Clayton, Saffell, AR. One daughter and son-in-law: Ann & Sloan Turnbow, Jonesboro. Six grandchildren; Cris Clayton Mooneyham, Jennifer Clayton Krisp, Tim Turnbow, Drs. Valerie & Tony Sloan, Dr. Lauren Turnbow, Lance & Dr. Kim Turnbow, two step grandchildren. Eight Great Grandchildren; Autumn Penn, Olivia Krisp, Tyler Krisp, Ashton Mooneyham, Abby Mooneyham, Jack Sloan, Jake Sloan, Olivia Sloan. Four Step great grandchildren. Special nephew, Gerald Gardner, Friendworld, TX.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 10, 2010 at 10:00am at the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Larry Ethridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Lincoln-Ward Cemetery at Saffell.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Allen, Robert Northcutt, Randy Richey, Ricky Husky, Dereck Husky, and Tommy Tidwell.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service, 401 W. Main St. Walnut Ridge, AR. Online guest registry is available at www.higginbothamfuneralservice.com

Funeral was scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. at the
Saffell Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial was to be in the Lincoln-Ward Cemetery at Saffell under the
direction of Higginbotham Funeral
Service.

Visitation was set for Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 5-8 p.m. at the church.
