H. L. Speights of White Hall died at the Davis Hospital Tuesday, June 16. Born Feb. 21, 1872 in Farmersville, La., he was the son of the late Willie Bass and Judith Carrie Henry Speights. He was married in Calhoun Co., in 1898 to the late Miss Florence Speer and is survived by two son, Willie B. Speights of East Alton, Ill. and Albert Speights of Vancouver, Wash., four daughters, Mrs. L. W. Liner of Ruston, La., Mrs. Myrtle Sowey of Casper, Wy., Mrs. A. N. Davis and Mrs. Melvin Still of Pine Bluff; two half brothers, Lee and Burton Speights of Benton, one half sister, Mrs. Bill Davis of Fordyce; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral was held in Whitewater Church with burial in Watson Cemetery. (Calhoun Herald - Hampton, Arkansas - June 25, 1959)
