GATTON, Mrs. J.C. {CAREY} - Mrs. J.C. Gatton, daughter of a Benton county pioneer, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Loveless, near Sulphur Springs last week. She had been ill some months. Funeral services and burial were held at the Butler Creek cemetery north of Sulphur Springs Friday. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Wm. Gatton, Joplin and Otto Gatton, Baxter Springs, Kansas; also by two daughters, Miss Hattie Gatton, Baxter Springs and Mrs. Carl Loveless, Sulphur Springs. A sister, Mrs. Harley Davidson, and a brother, Cleve Carey, also survive her. Mrs. Gatton was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cy Carey who were among the early settlers in northwest Benton county.
