HART, Edmond L. - Edmond L. Hart, better known as "Uncle Ed" Hart, died at his home four miles south of town last Tuesday after a protracted illness. Interment was made in the Hart graveyard Wednesday afternoon under the auspices of the Masonic lodge, Eld. Wm. Sears preaching the funeral sermon. Mr. Hart was born in Davidson county, N.C. in 1817 and was therefore in his 84th year. When 12 years of age he moved with his parents to Tennessee and grew to manhood in that State. He was married April 4th, 1839 to Miss Nancy Johnson Moore. Of this union came ten children, five boys and five girls. Deceased came to Benton county in 1850 and for 45 years has lived upon the home place where he died. He was a Union man during the war, independent in politics, a Master Mason and has for years been a member of the Christian church. Benton county has lost an old and respected citizen, his immediate community has lost a mainstay and his family has lost a guide and a helper in every way. He has gone to his rest full of years and honors and will be mourned by all who knew him. The Democrat joins the friends in sympathy and condolence to the family.
