HART, Ross - The following tribute to the memory of Ross Hart was handed us by a friend of the deceased: Mr. Ross Hart, son of Edmund Ross Hart, who lived seven miles west of Rogers, died Nov. 9, 1896. He would have been thirty-nine years old on the 3d day of December. He leaves an aged father and mother and several brothers and sisters to mourn his loss. He had always been in delicate health and eventually became a victim of that dread disease, consumption. He was baptized when small but not being satisfied he requested to be baptized again and on the Saturday evening before his death a tank of water was prepared and by the assistance of two men his earnest desire was gratified. The members of the Christian church had assembled at the residence and after the baptism each one gave him the right hand of fellowship into the church. He was then satisfied and felt as though he had made peace with God and was ready to die when the summons came. The funeral took place from the family residence on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock. A large concourse of friends were there to weep with the bereaved ones.A very large procession followed the remains to the Hart cemetery where the services were concluded and the body was laid to rest under flowers.
