POWHATAN -- Peggy Diane Attebury Vinson was born July 22, 1935, at Maunie, Ill., to Mildred Rose and Ernest Attebury.
Peggy Diane married Ernest Vinson on May 19, 1951, at Hopewell. Peggy Diane and Ernie lived at Rock Falls, Ill., for 25 years where they raised their three children. They retired to Powhatan in 1976.
Peggy Diane loved to read her Bible and was an avid member of Black Rock Church of Christ. She also enjoyed entertaining others with fish fries, homemade cooking and playing bingo. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, granchildren and great-grandchildren.
She passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at age 72.
Left to cherish her loving memory are husband, Ernest Leon Vinson; daughters, Paula and Glenn Van Der Vliet of Sheldon, Iowa, and Pamela and Mike Brown of Galt, Ill.; son, Ernest Leon Jr., and Ro Vinson of Richland, Wash.; grandchildren, Lori and Kirk Lovstad of Monroe, Iowa, Kathy and Steve Swain of Marshall, Minn., Adam and Jenny Van Der Vliet of Omaha, Neb., Jarod and Kate Brown of Madison, Wis., Jaramie Brown of Sterling, Ill., and Ross and Hyun Ju Vinson of Killeen, Texas; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Brooke Lovstad and Elijah, Gabriel and Ruby Swain; sisters, Sue and Lavern Battles of Rock Falls and Darlene and Julian Whisley of Oklahoma City; brother, Rudy and Sandy Attebury of Rock Falls; brother-in-law, Darrel Gorman of Titusville, Fla.; and a host of aunts and uncles, nephews, nieces, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mildred Attebury, and sister, Beverly Rose Gorman.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Steve Prestidge officiating. Burial will be in Powhatan Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
