SANDERS, Claud Earl - The little 3-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Sanders of Kansas City, Mo. was from all indications asphyxiated in the burning house of Wm. Lovelady before the building fell in and therefore we can not think the little one suffered pain while its little body was being charred by the flames and burning embers consuming the house. Little Claud Earl was asleep on the couch, lying on his right side, when his mother and grandmother left the house to milk the cows and when removed from the debris he was in the same position. The quilt upon which he lay was strong enough to remove the remains, the underside of which was not charred. Funeral services were conducted by the writer at 11 a.m. Feb. 16 at Bethel School House, 4 miles west of Cherokee City, Ark. Interment took place in the Cherokee City cemetery at 3 p.m. A large concourse of relatives and friends followed the remains to its last resting place. While father and mother and loved ones here below are wiping the tears from weeping eyes, the spirit of little Claud Earl is now beholding the face of the Father in his home beyond the skies. J.A. O'Neal.
