Joe Samuel Doss, 60, of Rt. 3, El Dorado, died Tuesday morning in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Doss was born Oct. 16, 1909 in Union County and was the son of George and Hettie Braswell Doss. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and was a retired oil field driller. Mr. Doss was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a past master mason of the Champagnolle Lodge. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sally Rogers Doss of El Dorado; his mother, Mrs. Hettie Doss McGilbary of Marshall, Tex.; a brother, G. L. Doss of Marshall; and two sisters, Mrs. Sula Kelly of Bossier City, La., and Mrs. Idell Frizzell of Cotton Valley, La. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Young's with the Rev. James E. Robken officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery on E. Main Road under direction of Young's. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Champagnolle Lodge. (El Dorado Times - December 2, 1969)
