Mrs. Fred Beaman, 42 years old, wife of Fred Beaman, a farmer living near Cherokee City, accidentally shot herself Thursday morning. Mrs. Beaman was in the house when she heard a chicken squawk and thinking that hawks were after her chickens, she took a rifle down from over the door and in some way it discharged, the bullet striking her in the head. Mr. Beaman was working nearby and ran to a neighbor's house to phone for a doctor but when he returned she was dead. Mr. and Mrs. Beaman only have one child, a son about 10 years old, who is at Salina, Okla. visiting his grandparents.
