Herman Ray Evans, Sr, age 80, of Bearden died Tuesday, September 10 at his home. He was a retired farmer.
Born on March 27, 1911 in Calhoun county, a son of James Henry Evans and Texann Jones. He was a member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Bearden and a World War II veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Dollie Ola Evans of Bearden, four sons; George Winfred Evans, James Hervey Evans, Doyle Patterson and Herman Ray Evans, Jr., all of Bearden; four daughters, Elizabeth Howard Nash and Kathryn Morgan, both of Bearden, Geneva Graham of Thornton and Charlotte Bradbury of Monroe, La.; two brothers, Woodrow Evans and Marion Evans of Hampton; one sister, Kitty Hamaker of Smackover, 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Chloe Patterson and Reba Dianne Evans, and one son, Harry Waymon Evans.
Funeral services will be held in the Providence Baptist Church at Bearden on Thursday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. A. J. Medlen, Rev. Franklin Nelson and Rev. Leroy Jones. Burial will be in Evans Cemetery by Benton Funeral Home.
