**obituary White River Currant Calico Rock, Arkansas
ROBERT BENERT OF DOLPH, son of the late Rudolph and Emma Patet Banert, was born Aug 3, 1919, in St. Paul Minnesota. He died August 16, 1996 at his residence. He was 77. Mr. Benert was a retired Civil Engineer with 30 years of civil service and a World War II veteran. He was also a registered land surveyor. Until his illness he was active in community and political affairs. He was the past chairman of the White River Regional Republican Committe and past chairman of the Izard County Republican Commee (sic). He was the 'Santa Clause' for the White River Health Care in Calico Rock and for Headstart. He was a member of the Trimble Campgournd Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dolph.
His philosophy of life was best found in the Bible, Matthew 22:37 and 39. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all they mind...thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. He believed in honesty and integrity above all else.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Benert of Dolph; one daughter and her husband, Juanita M. and Daniel Watkins of Dolph; six step children, Tracy Dobson of Hanahan, SC, Antonia Kelly of Salcha, AK, Carl Ketchum of Mt. Home, David Ketchum of Salcha, AK, Doug Ketchum of Anchorage, AK, and Harry Ketchum of Portland. OR; two brothers, Richard Benert of Bethlehem, PA and William Benert of St. Paul, MN; one sister, Vernie Lacey of Bozeman, MT; one grandson and his wife, Michael R. and Kim Benert of Conway; ten step grandchildren on great grandson, Michael R. Benert, II and three step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral srvices were held August 2, 1996 at the Howard Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
The family requests memorials be made in the Trimble Campgournd Cemetery.
