Springfield, MO - Bertha Knowles, 92, formerly of Mt. Home, went to be with her heavenly Father, Wednesday, Aug 10, 2005, after a lengthy illness.
With her warm smile and playful laugh, Bertha was full of life and zeal. She often could be found in her yard tending to her beautiful flowers and garden--two of her most treasured loves. Another love was fishing. She could out fish just about anyone. The two things in life she loved most were her family and her Lord. Until illness kept her at home the last two years, you could find her at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where she was a long time member. Her family was her top earthly priority. She always would be there for them if she could. She treasured times with them, especially at the lake.
She is survived by one son, Earl 'Junior' Knowles and his wife, Florine; three daughters, Thelma Cantwell and husband, Elvis, Ernestine Engeman and husband, Francis and Pat Wood; one brother, Floyd Renfro and wife, Mary; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Church; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; and numerous others who love her very much. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Knowles; grandson, Gerald Knowles; brother Paul Renfro; and son-in-law Steve Rice.
A service will be 10AM Saturday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1001 N. National, Springfield, MO, with the Rev Ralph Prosser and the Rev Gloria Jones officiating.
Burial will be 3PM Saturday at Norfork Cemetery.
