A funeral for Raymond G. Hood of Norfork will be 2PM today at Norfork Baptist Church, with Bro. David Wiley officiating. Visitation was 5-8PM Wednesday at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Mr. Hood died Monday, Nov 17, 2008, in Norfork at age 92.
He was born Wednesday, July 12, 1916, in Chafee, MO, the son of John H. and Sarah Cronin Hood. He married Nina Cantwell Nov 29, 1970, at Marion and worked ad a truck driver for Gordon Transport. Mr. Hood was a US Army veteran of World War II and lived in Norfork since 1974, moving from West Memphis. He was a member of Disable American Veterans and American Legion. He was Norfork fire chief for 10 years and a school bus driver for Norfork Schools. He loved spending time with his children.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Nina Hood; six son, Raymond G. (Peggy) Hood Jr. of Grandburg, Texas, John H. Hood of Hazelwood, MO, Ronald G. Hood of Memphis, TN, Charles E. Hood of West Memphis, Steven D. (Desiree) Hood of Pineville and James L. (Maria) Hood of Salesville; five daughters, Georgianna Van Iseghiem of St. Anns, MO, Toni Byrd of St. Louis, MO, Diann (Dave) Creech of Little Rock, Beverly Bolden of West Memphis and Sara (Sonny) Branan of Jordan; 34 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and three grandchildren.
Burial will be at Norfork Cemetery with Scott Bolden, Ed Brossett Jr, Steven Hood, Greg Skidmore, Steven Hood Sr and Jed Hood as pallbearers. Memorial may be made to the family.
Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
